Restore, Preserve
and Protect the
Alamosa River Watershed
Welcome to the Alamosa River Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that oversees the Alamosa River projects that are funded by the trustees of the Summitville Natural Resource Damage settlement.
We are proud of the fishing project that was funded to the Alamosa Riverkeeper, member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, an international environmental organization that protects waterways throughout the world.
Re-Discovering the Alamosa River: Let's Go Fishing!
The goals of this two-year project are:
Promote fishing in the Alamosa River, an underutilized recreational resource;
Restore the recreational benefits of the Alamosa River that were destroyed by a cyanide and heavy metals leakage at the Summitville Mining disaster;
Develop trained volunteers in water sampling.
Children, 6 to 16-year-old, and their parents or guardians, are invited to participate in this fishing project. Fishing poles, tackle, tee-shirts and other items will be provided
